Conclusion
TCP/IP was refined throughout the ensuing years via the RFCs. This was kept under the watchful eye of Jon Postel. Meanwhile, Cerf argued for the formation of an international grouping of lawyers and technicians to oversee the Internet. Governments were seemingly powerless to control content and Cerf believed that some control was needed. However, government limitations, or bans, on the use of encryption would, he suggested, compromise business security; safe commercial transactions were of paramount importance.
TCP/IP resolved many complex technical issues and led to the creation of the global network that we now know as the Internet. In doing so, it has provided countless millions with new forms of communication and access to vast amounts of information, much of which had previously been the domain of an elite few.
